Any sharing of mobile information is limited to service providers that deliver messages on our behalf and are contractually prohibited from using that information for their own marketing.
5. SMS AND TEXT MESSAGING PROGRAM
Vior operates an automated text messaging program in connection with team fundraising campaigns on our platform. This section describes how we collect, use, and protect information related to that program and applies to anyone who opts in to receive fundraising-related text messages from Vior.
Program Description
When you opt in, you may receive automated text messages from Vior about a specific athlete or team fundraising campaign. Messages may include an initial invitation to support a fundraiser, periodic reminders while the campaign is active, and a link to make a donation. Messages are sent on behalf of athletes, parents, or teams using the Vior platform.
How You Opt In
You may consent to receive fundraising text messages from Vior through either of the following methods:
- Public fundraising page (self opt-in): You visit an athlete's public fundraising page at myvior.one/fundraising/page/[share code], enter your own mobile number, review the SMS disclosure, and check an unchecked-by-default box agreeing to receive up to 3 automated fundraising text messages from Vior about that campaign before submitting.
- Verbal permission + athlete/parent entry (in-app): An athlete or parent first asks you for permission to text you about the fundraiser (including that you may receive up to 3 automated messages from Vior, that message and data rates may apply, and that you can reply STOP to opt out). If you agree, they sign into the Vior web or mobile app, open Add Supporters, enter your mobile number, and check an unchecked-by-default attestation confirming your prior permission before saving. Your number is not added without that attestation.
Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of purchasing any goods or services and is not required to make a donation.
Message Frequency
You may receive up to 3 automated text messages per fundraising campaign: an initial message when outreach begins, a reminder approximately 4 days later, and a final reminder approximately 8 days later. Messaging stops when you donate, reply STOP, the campaign ends, or the maximum number of messages for that campaign has been sent. Message frequency may vary slightly based on campaign timing.
Rates, Carriers, and Delivery
Message and data rates may apply. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Delivery depends on your mobile carrier and device.
Opt-Out and Help
- Reply STOP to any message to opt out of future fundraising text messages from Vior for that number. You may receive a one-time confirmation that your opt-out request was received.
- Reply HELP for assistance, or contact us at support@myvior.one.
- For additional information, see our Terms of Service.
How We Use Mobile Information
We use mobile phone numbers and SMS consent data solely to:
- Send fundraising messages you have agreed to receive
- Process opt-out (STOP) and help (HELP) requests
- Maintain records of consent and messaging activity for compliance purposes
- Prevent abuse and protect the integrity of our messaging program
Non-Sharing of Mobile Opt-In Data
No mobile information, SMS opt-in data, or consent obtained for this messaging program will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Information is shared only with messaging service providers that transmit messages on our behalf, under agreements that restrict use of your data to providing those services to Vior.
6. DATA SECURITY
We implement industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information, including encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and regular security assessments. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. DATA RETENTION POLICY
We store and retain personal information only as long as needed to provide the Service, meet legal requirements, and fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy. We do not retain personal data indefinitely. Our data retention practices are as follows:

- Support communications: Retained for up to 2 years to resolve disputes and improve our services.
- SMS and fundraising outreach data: Mobile numbers, opt-in records, and message delivery logs are retained for the duration of the active campaign and up to 24 months thereafter for compliance, dispute resolution, and opt-out enforcement, unless a shorter period is required by law.
- Automatically collected data: Usage logs and analytics data are retained for up to 12 months, after which they are deleted or aggregated and anonymized.
- Backup copies: Residual copies in encrypted backups may persist for up to 90 days before being permanently removed.
- Legal obligations: We may retain certain information longer when required by law, to resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, or protect our legal rights.
When data is no longer needed, we securely delete or anonymize it so it can no longer be associated with you.
